Review: Trevor Powers- Capricorn

Sometimes beautiful things are fragile and break easily. So it is with Idaho- based composer and musician Trevor Powers.

His new album Capricorn is a rare thing of beauty, fusing delicate electronics with field recordings to startling effect.

From the chiming bells, liminal ambient spaces and distortion of First Rain, to the sci-fi synth caresses of  Ghosts of Shanghai, there is a luminous, neon- lit gorgeousness which transforms the room into a soothing haven.

Earth to Earth, as its title may suggest, even shares Bowie and Eno’ s Low in its shimmering DNA.

It’s far and away one of the most sublime records you’ll hear all year. Dip in and bathe in its warm glow. It’s an otherworldly triumph.
