The club night, founded by Dean Cargill, Queer Theory is back… Online, at least.
Sexy, subversive, playful and serious, the queer cabaret night has become something of a favourite in Glasgow since its inception in 2016, and with good cause. It is a riot of ideas, creativity, political activism and filth- intersectionality at its best.
Since we can’t come out, as it were, the latest edition titled Transcendence will go out live on Friday, March 26th. The theme, as the title indicates, is spirituality and queerness.
Hosted by ‘drag queen slacker starlet’ Ruby Waters and Amy Cheskin providing BSL , the impressive line-up features drag artist Purina Alpha; singer/songwriter Hope London, Oasis parodists Oasissy, FRAN K with a preview of ‘Living In The Space Between’, an excerpt from Jo Clifford’s NTS show ‘Eve’, poet/comedian Eve Jeffrey, a film from artist Katy Dye, Craig Manson as Tracey Emin, poet Sean Lionadh, new work from performance artist/comedian Theo Seddon and musical duo Alternative Cracks.
Usually featuring at Nice n Sleazy, this time they’ve teamed up with new queer bar/club Bonjour.
In short, there will be something to inspire, provoke, titillate, tickle and move you. QT is a brilliant alternative to more mainstream cabaret, every single time.
