Careful when looking up this band! Naked Roommate are a quartet from Oakland, CA who make a delirious noise. With the rhythms of ESG, the attitude of punk and a skewed take on the world, debut album Do The Duvet seems as good a reason to opt out, you know, until things blow over.
Amber Sermeno, Andy Jordan, Alejandro Alcala and Michael Zamora make music that bubbles to the surface like popcorn, grinds the hips and makes things better for an hour or so.
They’re a nice antidote to the cynical nihilism of the current crop of lesser bands in thrall to punk rock. Do The Duvet seems less about creating trends, and more about possibilities.
Out via Upset The Rhythm on September 4th.
