Chicago duo Ohmme are a nice antidote to bland pop and predictable indie alike. They’re pretty special.
New single 3243, with its kind of anti-travelogue video, features the pair, Sima Cunningham and Macie Stewart, wandering around streets and filming everything, before engaging in what looks like a kind of pagan mud ritual. It’s very engaging and enigmatic.
The song is great too: incredibly hooky and with intoxicating melodies, it kind of sits at a post-grunge/anti-folk intersection. The theme is change, identity and uncertainty. A forthcoming album, Fantasize Your Ghost, follows in June.
