Toro Y Moi, aka Chaz Bear, always mixes a plethora of styles seamlessly and playfully. So it is with the Sesame Street on weed vibe of Soul Trash his new mash up album/ old school mixtape.
Featuring contributions from Elijah Kessler, Caleon Fox and Old Grape God, it’s soul,sunshine, beats, sneakers and skateboarding.
Dreamy cinematic samples rub pleasurably against psychedelic beats. It’s reminiscent of J Dilla, Boards of Canada (in bliss mode) Kid Koala and Avalanches, yet always recognisable as Bear, with his heart and humour. Gorgeous sweet psych trap for what’s left of our sunny days.

It’s great.
Watch out for the moment in the film where Bear eats potato chips. Really funny, beautiful mix as well.
