Review: Kaputt- Carnage Hall

upset_the_rhythm_kaputtcover--2

Piers Morgan’s worst nightmare, Glasgow six headed beast Kaputt are good for what ails you.

Their frenetic stew of postpunk, Beefheart and James Chance is an oppositional yet melodic racket which speaks to our troubled UK.

Simone Wilson and Cal Donnelly swap vocals like a Dadaist Nancy and Lee, Chrissy Barnacle’s sax playing brings yet another layer of sound, and it’s a tangy tangle of genres, ideas and humour.

The title track (great pun) seems to ricochet around the room, and ‘Very Satisfied’ will leave you feeling just that. It’s all erring on the brink of chaos, and all the better for it.

Out on October 4th via Upset The Rhythm.
